Somebody once told me that lobsters mate for life. Despite the fact that this is completely untrue (female lobsters normally just pick the largest sexiest lobster when it is that time), it is an incredibly endearing image. I just see these two lobsters, claw in claw, with their big flat cumbersome tails all nestled together. Despite their tough chitonous exoskeletons, I imagine them to be pretty amicable little guys. Whether they are hanging out in the tank at a chain seafood restaurant; or hoping that they aren’t going to get caught up in a trawl net by a jerk fisherman… I guess they just seem sort of happy go lucky and sweet.
I guess what I am trying to say is… Allen is my lobster, and I am having a wonderful 23rd birthday.
And might I add: my friends are the freakingist awesomeist people on the planet. Last weekend they threw a really great surprise bash for me, and it was quite truly a SURPRISE. Everybody turned out, even lisanne, anika, jilly, and erin, who live waaay too far away for this to be a sane idea. We played beer pong (which of course I love), and the winners of the tourney got candy grillz (!!!). I was so filled with happiness with the fact that my davis buddies still are down to play some beer pong on account of lil ole me.
Thanks tom, bekk, amy, steph, anika, lisanne, mikey, erin, jilly, chris, and everyone else who so effortlessly hoodwinked me. Yeah I know I was a clueless sucker.
Here is to my twenty-third year of life, with many more adventures to come no doubt.
