Thoughts on tonight's NASCAR All-Star Challenge:

Oh, brother. That was not well done at all.

Yeah. The All-Star Challenge race is weird, they do it in four 20-lap segments. Kyle had led the whole second segment, but had a bad start to the third segment and fell back to fourth or fifth, while Kurt had come (as if from nowhere!) from a ways back to third or fourth. Kurt was in the middle of passing the guy in front of him when Kyle decided he was faster than both of them and tried to pass on the inside, bumped into Kurt, and went sideways. He just barely caught Kurt's back bumper and took them both out.

They interviewed Kurt afterward and he was very nice about it; you could tell he was frustrated but he just said it was inevitable that they would get together someday and it's just too bad it happened when they both had such good cars. But he also added that he wasn't going to be eating Kellogg's (Kyle's sponsor) anytime soon. They never did interview Kyle although they talked to his crew chief.

It's funny because a couple of years ago, that would have been Kurt tearing things up out there. Hopefully Kyle will follow the same pattern and settle down a bit soon!

I couldn't find a clip of just their wreck, but here's one that has all the wrecks from last night--the Open and the All-Star Challenge--it's at about 6:20:
