Shennanigans and Goings-on

This is in response to Garrett's protesting. I'm "livejournaling." Happy?

This semester of grad school is mostly dedicated to the performance of Shakespeare. I'm high on blank verse. We've just started working on scenes from Macbeth and it is a blast. (Zach, I get to do Lady M's "That which has made them drunk has made me bold" etc. I thought you might appreciate that.) In voice class I've done Juliet, Hamlet, and now Rosalind. All of it makes me very happy.

This weekend I just wrapped up a drag show in which I played a frustrated, musical theater loving Bloody Mary trapped in purgatory. That was kinda fun. Next: I'm going to be in the dance concert! Go figure!

I love teaching. My students are all so smart. And some of them are really talented. I find myself going back to Jane Brody-isms to teach these kids. What can I say? It works. Although she never stressed the importance of an actor's warm-up enough. That's a big part of my class. Also audition techniques. There are so many young people who have no idea what the hell they're doing in an audition.

Speaking of auditions, UCF is doing Machinal and Parade next semester. I'd like to do Machinal, but everyone is required to sing for the musical. The director has requested "32 bars of a song from a contemporary show that is set in another period that shows emotion and your vocal range." Yeesh. Fuck it. I'm having a good time. I'm singing "Sister Suffragette" from Mary Poppins. What the hell.

I'm being taken to Europe in May. By a very charming Australian named Mark. Christ, I think he wants to marry me. But I'm going to Europe!!!

I miss Louisiana food real bad.

I haven't been to the beach in months.  :(

I'm quite the cook these days. You wouldn't believe it.
I'm quite the drinker these days. But you would believe that.

HEY! I need a one-act play to direct. Any suggestions?
