No hanging chads

Today was actually pretty calm, despite the history that took place yesterday. No one really talked about it. Actually, more people commented on wondering the results for NC specifically, as opposed to what the entire country decided. My mom, who is a teacher, even said that no one talked to her about it. It's interesting. She said more kids were commenting on it. One of her students (she teaches LD kids for only short periods of the day in a pull-out program) said that 3rd graders were crying about the election results this morning in class. He told her that another student said that Obama was going to make all of the white people be slaves. He was concerned. My mom reassured him that was not going to happen. Seriously, his parents, which is probably where he got that from, are messed up to say that. Sickening.

I am so excited about the potential that is now in place for the change that our country desperately needs. Now it's a waiting game to see if and when it will happen. I am relived to know that it is pretty dang likely. I am excited that people, regardless of their position, got out and made sure their voice was heard. It's incredible.

McCain's speech was pretty darn good. I was shocked he had it in him. I think the media and this country needs to give him some credit. I wouldn't want to be campaigning against Obama.

The current state of the economy is becoming more and more apparent to me by the day. I know several people that have been laid off over the last few weeks, some being family members, and company spending is being cut like crazy. It's not just in the news to me anymore.
