There was rage at first.
She knew something was wrong: she saw it in Cassie's eyes, her demenor, the way she said "Sam, I need to talk to you," and then insisted that they take a seat first. Everything after that mostly blurs together. She remembers quickly traveling through disbelief to rage. She knew Cassie was worried about her and would have prefered her to stay out in the main room, but even so as soon as Cassie was done speaking Sam went into her own room. She shut the door behind her - a bit more forcefully than usual.
That was thirty minutes ago. Janet had come back and she and Cassie had been murmering about Sam's shut door ever since.
Sam sits on her bed with her head resting on her hands. Her anger had all but disappated. After all, she reasoned, they had not agreed to see each other exclusively..
They hadn't even been seeing each other, really.
What happened between them so far? They ate togther? Well she does that with people all the time, doesn't mean she's dating them.
They watched a movie togther? Do that with Janet and Cassie all the time.
Fell asleep? They were tired. Perfectly explainable.
And the next morning they had waffles.
Nothing exciting about that.
It's better this way - to have found out before anything happened.
She nods to herself and continues to sit there for a long time.
Finally she stands up and opens the door.
Going to have to face them sooner or later.
