Today was a good day.
I love my job. It's fucking exhausting though, and I have another training thing / staff meeting / project to worry about every ten seconds.
The kids are so funny. Today this one boy, Oscar, hurt his knee. I gave him a little ziplock bag of ice for it. He said to me, "Is the ice going to turn into water?" I told him it would and then he asked, "Can I put one on the tree?" I had no idea what he meant, so I just humored him and said that he could. He got up, one of the ice cubes in his hand, and wandered from tree to tree, searching for the one that would receive it. The fourth tree he walked up to was the lucky recipient of the ice. At first he set it down at the base of its trunk, then thought better of it and actually started rubbing the ice on its leaves! It was so cute. After I convinced him to just leave it at the trunk, he started finding fallen leaves to place around the ice and then sat down next to the tree, I'm guessing to guard it or something.
So there the two of them were, side-by-side.
I'm thinking he wanted to give the tree some water, but I can't be sure. It was very serious business to Oscar anyway.
And I still have no authority. No one wants to listen to me.
Amy = Doormat.
Anyway.
Things are good. Well, really, things are busy. Same thing.
