Mun Prompt: Does your muse ever act irrationally? If so, what are the triggers that make them lose their self control?
Alec would like you all to think that he's immune to that sort of thing. And, honestly, for the most part he is. For the most part. He's an X5. A super soldier. When I hear the phrase 'grace under fire', Alec is who I think of.
He doesn't know how to lose his cool. He plans and plots things that no one in their right mind would think to, want to, or need to. Woman he's in love with and thought was dead being alive? He very deliberately planned to get fall down, suicidal drunk. While playing the piano. It seems irrational, but had a certain, albeit weird, Alec logic to it.
He could be dropped into a war zone and would calmly walk out of it like it was an afternoon at the movies. He'll almost always land on his feet. Unless you drop him into the deep end of the pool.
He'd like to tell you it's just that he doesn't like water because of his cat DNA. He lies about shit like that. In reality, he's really bad at holding his breath.
Lydecker said that X5's should be able to hold their breath underwater for seven minutes. And of course what the Colonel says is law, so of course they would stay under water for seven full minutes. Even though they were kids, even though some of them ran out of air sooner. They were X5s, and if pushed to the limits, their bodies would just extend the limit. Alec ran out of leeway six minutes and thirty-six seconds in. You can breathe in a lot of water in twenty-four seconds.
Of course, they resuscitated him pretty quickly when the seven minutes were up, but after that, water that was deep enough to close over his head caused instant panic. Flailing, hysterical, irrational panic. He would rather be shot than hit into the deep end of a pool. And the only way anyone is getting him out into a natural body of water larger than a mud puddle is with full sedation. He's heard of undertow, and knows how fast it can work.
He prefers showers.
