(mind_the_muse) "Oh the war is common cry, Pick up you swords and fly."

If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If you aren't afraid of dying, there is nothing you can't achieve.
- Tao Te Ching

"Transgenics don't retreat. We fall back."

(OOC: So many spoilers for SPN finale.)

(OOC: Set after this and at the same time as this.)

He held on.

His voice was hoarse from the unending stream of Church Latin, he couldn't smell anything anymore and his hands were slicked with blood. He didn't know how much was his and he didn't care. It wasn't the first time. It wouldn't be the last.

He held on until Ruby got Sam to pretend that he still has life in him. That it didn't die with Dean.

He doesn't say a word when they get into the Impala. He doesn't feel a thing. He needs to be a person for that. Right now he isn't. He is a weapon.

He just blinks as they roll away. There was no room for him in the car anyway. Dean takes up all the space there is.

He registers the empty space behind him and calmly steps out of the Trap. It was useless, spent. What it was protecting gone.

He looked over the battle field, he job wasn't done yet. Jo and Elle were still out there.

He found them both, Elle, if nothing else could be said Adam had her back. He'd come back for her if he had to. Jo was more than ready to quit the field, it just took a minute for her body and brain to catch up with each other. They took John's truck.

It had been left for him, or maybe just left. He didn't know and didn't care. He also didn't want to know what Jo thought on him.

Because everyone knew Alec. But no one knew X5-494. And the weapon didn't know how to give up.

But it did know when to fall back.
