“Mako…”
“Hmm…” Makoto asked as they slowly made their way back home.
“Daijoubu?”
“Um.”
“You prefer quiet guys huh?”
“KAZUYA!” She shouted as she slapped Kazuya’s arm and entered her apartment and started climbing up the stairs.
“You’re angry?” He asked as he followed closely behind.
“No I’m not.”
“See?”
“What?” She asked as she took her keys out from her pocket and opened her house door.
“You always do that whenever you’re angry.”
“What?”
“You always avoid me in the eye when you’re angry Makoto.”
Makoto stopped in her tracks but she didn’t turn back.
“Because…”
“Hmm?”
“I would end up crying after that.”
“Mako…”
Kazuya had wanted to go over but Makoto placed her hand on the wall and shook her head.
“Thanks for seeing me home Kamenashi-kun.”
Judging from her sudden formality, Kazuya knew he could not stay any longer and took a few steps back before he closed the door. Makoto slumped onto the floor and wiped away her tears.
“Gomen, Kazuya.”

When Makoto emerged from the bathroom, she headed for the kitchen and made a cup of earl grey tea to drink.
This is getting complicated. Too complicated. She said to herself as she started drinking. All of a sudden she regretted not asking Kazuya to stay for the night and wondered if she was too harsh on him earlier. My fault, again. She thought.
When she was about to reach for her remote to switch on her hi-fi, her house phone rang and she picked it up.
“Hello?” She said in a weary tone.
“Ne…”
It was Kazuya on the phone.
“Um.”
“Are you feeling better already?”
“Gomen.”
“For?” He asked.
“Earlier. I didn’t mean it.” Makoto replied apologetically and waited for him to reply.
“AHCHOO!”
Makoto looked at her door where the sneezing sound came from and finally realized.
She rushed for the door and opened it.
Kazuya was seated on the ground just beside her door. When he looked up at Makoto, he simply smiled.
Makoto threw herself at Kazuya and hugged him.
“Baka.” She said.
“Well. I wasn’t invited inside earlier and I’m worried about you.” He replied as he stroked her jet black hair gently and returned the hug.
“Gomen. I really didn’t mean it.” She looked at Kazuya and tried to control her tears.
Kazuya grinned and planted a kiss onto her biting lip.
“You’re going to regret doing that.”
“Why?”
“Coz I’m going to cry. Right now.”
“My shoulder is only for you to cry on, Mako.”
With that, Makoto released her tears and buried her face into his chest while Kazuya carried her up and brought her into the house…
