drabble - Companion SP
Mika was too busy with her baking to realize that someone was seated at the counter looking at her.
“What are you baking?”
She jumped up and turned back to see an amused Shun waving at her.
Don’t scare me like this all of a sudden… She wrote and pasted the note on his forehead before she continued with her baking.
“Mind me seeing what you’re doing?”
Mika thought for a while before she smiled and motioned for Shun to enter the counter.
When Shun took a closer look at what Mika was doing, he realised that she was baking chocolate cookies and she was in the midst of putting the dough into the oven.
“For your boyfriend?” He asked.
I don’t have one.
“Then why are you making it?”
I just happened to have the mood.
“On Valentines’ Day?”
Just a coincidence.
Mika smiled at Shun before she closed the oven door and set the timer at ten minutes. She then grabbed a stool and sat in front of the oven like an excited kid.
“Can I ask you something?”
Mika nodded with her eyes still stuck on the oven glass.
“Is this the first time you’re baking?”
She turned to face Shun at once with the words “how did you know?” written all over her face.
Shun grinned as he used a finger and scooped the remains of the chocolate dough that was on her cheek before he tasted it.
Mika felt her cheeks burning and looked away at once upon seeing Shun putting that bit of dough into his mouth.
“Un. It’s kinda bitter and yet sweet at the same time.” He commented as he took another stool and sat right beside Mika with his legs spread in-between her.
“I think I like it…”
“Chotto…” Mika mumbled as she felt Shun inching closer to her.
“Ah! You finally spoke!” Shun exclaimed all of a sudden and grabbed her hand. Mika seemed to realize it as well and she used her free hand to cover her mouth.
“Why have you been keeping quiet all these while?” He asked.
“It feels weird to talk after so long…” She cleared her throat before replying.
“Yatta.”
Mika looked at a happy Shun and mouthed why at him.
“You should talk more. Another reason to like you even more…”
She could feel her heart beating wildly and turned away once more.
He took her other hand and pulled her closer to him.
“May I have the honour of receiving your cookies today?”
Mika looked at her cookies that were almost ready and thought for a few seconds before she nodded and turned back to face Shun.
And then…
Shun leaned forward for a quick kiss on her lips.
“Yatta.” Shun smiled and ruffled her bangs.
“Actually…” She whispered.
“Hmm?”
“The cookies were meant for you in the first place…”
“Uso.” It was Shun’s turn to be surprised.
Mika smiled and grabbed his shirt before she returned the kiss…
…this time being a long, tender kiss.
She broke away from the kiss when the oven timer went off and wrapped her hands around his neck before saying…
“Happy Valentines’ Day, Oguri Shun.”
