「Fanfic」 Crows Zero - Prologue II
A week later, Genji met up with Izaki at the usual darts bar both frequented and from there they officially became a team together with Makise and Chuta. Remi was present too but she chose to remain seated by the bar counter and witness the fun between the rest.
“Lock your elbow before you throw the dart out.” Izaki showed Genji the ropes once and threw the dart out. It hit the bullseye and everyone cheered including Remi.
“This is difficult.” Genji frowned as he tried to practice his throw. Izaki smirked and held Genji’s elbow to assist him in throwing. When Genji finally threw the dart out, it hit Chuta by mistake and both of them feigned ignorance and turned to the dart board simultaneously.
“Shun! I’m heading home first!” Remi jumped up from her seat and walked towards Izaki and Genji.
“I’ll send you home.” Izaki turned to grab his jacket but she took his hand and shook her head.
“I’m fine alone. You guys enjoy the night!”
“Oyasumi Remi-chan!” Both Makise and Chuta waved in unison and Remi laughed. Genji stole a quick glance at a laughing Remi and he was caught in the act by her.
“Jya oyasumi, Genji.”
“Orh.” Genji looked away at once and drank his beer. Remi waved goodbye to the rest and left the bar while the rest continued partying.
“She’s your girlfriend?” Genji asked as he sat down by the counter and ordered another mug of beer.
“No. Just an old friend.”
“Souka.”
Genji slid a hand into his jacket to grab his cigarette pack but realized that it was empty. He then excused himself temporarily to get his smoke craving settled.
Before he made his way across the road, he heard some noise on the right and naturally turned to see a group of guys surrounding someone.
When Genji managed to get a clearer view, he was surprised to see Remi facing them alone.
His first instinct was to run over to help but he paused when he witnessed Remi delivering a swift kick onto the bald guy’s face. Seconds later she grabbed another by the shirt and punched him straight on the face before throwing him onto the ground.
Genji was taken aback by her agility but yet impressed that a simple-looking girl like her could fight well.
This had made him spark an interest in Remi.
“YOU BITCH!” The bald guy lounged forward for another attack but Remi was able to avoid it easily by making a quick turn and from there she gave him a kick on the groin.
The winner was obvious; the panting losers stood up and pointed their middle fingers at Remi before they scurried away.
When the guys were completely out of Remi’s sight, she started panting heavily and held on to the road railings for support. Genji saw and immediately ran over to her side.
“Omae….” Genji managed to grab hold of her hand before she fell onto the ground. Remi looked up to see a frowning Genji and smiled.
“You saw?” She asked as she wiped beads of perspiration off her forehead.
“I didn’t know you can fight.”
“I was better last time, perhaps better than you too.”
Remi winked and Genji gave a genuine smile.
“Can I ask you for a favour? Er, no. Make it two favours.”
“Shoot.”
“Don’t like Shun know about this.”
“Why?”
“He kinda disapproves of me fighting recently.”
“I think you can fend for yourself.” Genji commented.
“My current health doesn’t allow me to be involved in long fights.”
No wonder she seemed to be feeling uncomfortable earlier. Genji looked at Remi whose facial color was returning to the usual rosy shade and nodded.
“Your other favour?” Genji yawned as he ran a hand through his hair.
“I won’t be able to make it home in my current condition so could you send me home?”
He raised an eyebrow and Remi could not help but laugh.
“What’s so funny?” He growled.
“I think I prefer a smiling Genji.”
She flashed her pearlies and Genji turned away. This made Remi laugh out at once.
“If your boys know that you blush easily they would definitely make a joke out of it!”
Genji threw a stare at her before he turned around and flung her hands around his shoulder. Before Remi could even say anything, he had already piggybacked her and started walking.
“Ne...”
“Nan dayo?” Genji rolled his eyes.
“Thank you.” Remi whispered into his ear as she tightened her hands around him.
