Mom's two months of hell

Well, folks, normalcy left the scene for good. Why do I say that? *long sigh* Let me tell you.

Seven weeks ago, Mom came down with the most awful ragged case of coughs I've seen. At that time, Mom had 12 weeks + 1 day working before she retired. She's de facto retired now -- sick leave until well. She was on vacation one week, trying to sleep it off, and tried to work the next. No good. She set up an appointment with our dr. the next monday, and he diagnosed with Pneumonia, and told her to come back wednesday for some scan. All was OK, we thought. Between the visits, Mom's right leg swelled up. Not good. The dr. found blood clots in the leg and rushed her to the hospital he was affliated with.

She was in there 10 days, but without problems. First night, the nurse was a bitch -- she was good as gold after that, and Mom's man hating side popped out. Male nurse? gtfo. *wry laugh* During the visit, they was trying to figure out if it was cancer and clots, or just clots. At that time, they were treating the clots heavy, since they can be automatic death, however... *hangs head and sighs* However, That made me question their competency. Good: Blood thinner Heparin and the other one, a C, for home use. Bad: Tried to switch Mom's heart meda -- she went afib, switched her back w/ the switch still in her -- afib, injected her with a strange steroid -- she was allergic to it and had stroke-like reaction, thinking reaction was stroke.

She survived that and well enough to go home .. with oxygen tanks. She was home a week. Yes, a week. Mom's been the type to go-go-go! when she can, so she was pushing herself to get better. Wrong move.

Normalcy left when she went back to the hospital. Not only had she gotten more blood clots in both legs, they found spots in her lungs. I won't sugarcoat it. She has Small Cell Cancer. Thankfully, they caught it early enough that they're going gung ho. Before she started radiation, the hospital's competency was questioned again. they made every vein in her arms fubar so she has/had a hole in her chest for stuff -- a pic line, or something. And she was almost upside down for a while. This was her..

Hopefully she'll be home soon and has the sense to not push herself. We like her.

What was the hospital that made me question them? Grandview Medical Center

How am I doing? Surviving. Things change, and I gotta adapt. Though, the week before Halloween, the stress about Mom, the chaos over everyone coming and going everyday and cleaning the house almost everyday, and the chaos with my "The Maw" partner (entry upon request) and job messed me up enough that I had a case of the shakes I'm not going to lie. I may be a procrastinator, but I love me some Order. a little chaos, like a chaotic ex-gf, or a thankless retail job, is just fine. I deal with some chaos. Overload me, and I break.

Come home soon, mama.
