Ooh, very interesting start. You do a nice balanced argument about changing the wraith to humans, bringing up the oft-belaboured points about its inethical nature, as well as a rational military perspective (given eating or dead as your two choices, is human better than killing them all?) I'm definitley looking forward to the rest, and have been thoroughly enjoying this entire series.
Thanks! It's been an interesting fine line to walk with the two of them. Glad you're enjoying the series. It's always fun to hear from someone for the first time. :)
Oh good, I was wondering if/when you were going to broach this story arc inside "The Human Body". Personally, I've never had any issues with what Carson tried to do. Under the circumstances set up by the show, he really was looking for a viable alternative to genocide, which from our perspective, was the only option unless you want to consider being willing to accept the role of sapient cattle. And I believe in the ep (though I may be misremembering) he never goes to the planet with the intent of experimenting on Elia, but with the intent of testing the retrovirus on cells he cultures from her.
The one thing I did fault him for is an all too human failing, wanting to give her father hope, and telling him about the retrovirus.
At any rate, I'll be very interested to see where you take this, because it's going to be a harsh ride for both our boys.
Cool! I remember reading some of this during the month of November, but I stopped because I wanted to read the final product. This is a great look at what Carson and John had to be thinking. And naughty Elizabeth... :-)
Guh. Still working on a 'final' product... but there we go. :)
And yeah, I was rewatching to get the dialogue and I caught that look and I was like, "Damn, bitch!" It was just nasty. She's never been my favorite character, but usually because I'm bored with her, not because she does something I really dislike. This made me really mad at her!
I'm reading your stories for some time now, and I love them all! And I was waiting for the Instinct/Conversion part :) I have no account at LJ, call me a lurker, but I read everything with John/Carson on it. You're one of my favorite authors. Keep on the brilliant work!

And yeah, Carson was kind of put in an untenable position. Play God or stand by and let an entire sentient race get erradicated.
Poor boy couldn't win.
And then to have the backfire end up splattering all over his lover? Adding insult to injury much?

Anyway, I'm glad you like the series. If I'm supremely lucky, it'll inspire you to write something for me to read. ;)
And I'm so flattered to be one of someone's favorite authors. That's so sweet! Thank you so much.
