Attention fangirls and fanboys, Chlarkers, Cloisers, Clexers, Lexanaers, Clanaers Broisers, and everyone who falls in between or not in at all: welcome to the Smallville Big Bang Challenge!

With 8, and soon to be 9, seasons under our belts, we’re long overdue in coming together as a fandom to celebrate the show that has given us joy by bringing us the adventures, romances, drama, and excitement of pre-cape Clark Kent and the other fair denizens of Smallville. To celebrate the show and the creativity we generate from it, the Smallville Big Bang is a challenge open to all writers, vidders, and artists, who want to add to the diverse wealth of our fandom.

So now a little information about the Smallville Big Bang Challenge. For starters, like other Big Bang Challenges, the aim is to create works with a large word count, usually 20 thousand plus. The minimum count for this challenge is 15,000 words. This may seem like a lot, it’s about 35-36 pages in Times New Roman 12” font. No need to hyperventilate. We will cheerlead to get everyone across the finish line.

The reasoning behind choosing 15 thousand words is as follows:
1) To make the challenge manageable for first time writers of more than 5,000 word
2) To allow members of fandom participating in other Big Bang Challenges the opportunity to complete their Smallville entries without interfering with other concurrent works.
3) To provide a reasonable goal that keeps the end in sight.

This a true summer challenge beginning with sign-ups at the end of this month and final submissions in August. There’s plenty of time. The hard part will be honing (at least) one idea that will keep you focused and dedicated until August. Any writers, vidders, artists, betas, and cheerleaders who want join the challenge are free to do so during all their respective sign-up periods.

The last point of extreme importance is mutual respect. One of our unofficial mottos for this challenge will be "the more, the merrier" and don’t read or watch unless you can be respectful in commenting. We’re all adults here and should behave as such. *steps off soapbox*

To reiterate: everyone and all contributions are welcome!

Create or pimp-You know you want to!

Official rules follow in the next post.

Again, welcome and we hope to have as much participation as possible!
