After I graduate college with a Criminology major, and a forensic anthropology minor I plan to obtain a job with the government (FBI, CBI, etc.) for you receive better benefits, and better retirement. Criminology is a broad field, along with forensic anthropology, and at UNC - Wilmington your senior year as an undergraduate in forensic anthropology, you receive an internship with the FBI. Hopefully with my internship, I will be able to impress them enough so that they will want to keep me to work for them. Internships are a great way to open up doors to your future. It would be an honor to work within the government to help keep the general public safe.
The Internet is a very fundamental tool, especially in this day and age, it is our link to the outside world. The web connects us to everyday life, news, and events. Let's saying you're looking for a job, you can use the internet to contact a boss, director, or president of a company to help you receive that job. Granted you could go visit them in person, but the Internet sorts jobs for out and finds what you qualify for therefore it is much more organized and precise. In my career, the internet will help with research of a certain region, maps for locations, and landmarks when trying to solve a case. Knowing where a crime scene is exactly and being able to pinpoint where a victim, or suspect, was before the event occurred would help with being able to see their exact path.
The internet has many useful tools as in weather patterns, locating tools, social media sites and basic information about anything and everything in general. Using all of the above would help solve crimes by clearly showing facts and data. If I was studying a crime scene and wanted to see how Jane or John Doe ended up a victim, I could check bank statements online, or even dental records. Along with checking Facebook, and Twitter accounts to know more about the person, and their friends. Social media sites could lead to the whereabouts of a victim, possible motive, and help identify suspects. Everything has a first step and maybe a Facebook message that came off as a little too harsh could be just that, your big break.
Receiving a job with any government branch dealing with my major and minor would definitely be an amazing opportunity. That is what I plan to do after college and I will strive for it, no matter what the costs. And using the internet to help me, help the public, will be a benefit to us all. It is more organized and convenient for me and a quicker, more efficient, approach that will help all those involved in a certain case (whether it's rape, murder, or suicide). The internet is also used for media and can help put criminals behind bars, and check a victim's email, Facebook, and Twitter account. The internet will help me help millions.
