Why I grew even fatter this summer.

Realized I haven't been updating since he left. Bum. Here's snippets of what happened!

Good prata that's near my place, 7 Crane Rd if I didn't remember wrongly. Very crispy, just the way I like it. The kosong and cheese are awesome, don't bother about the egg one. The chilli comes with ikan bilis too! (Found out that I love ikan bilis during my internship) There's a stall selling wanton mee that's not bad too, but haven't got the chance to try yet cos I can't resist prata everytime I'm there. Used to have it for Sunday breakfast with my dad every week when the rest of the family was on holiday, then my mom came back, tried it and decided it was "nothing fantastic" (as usual), and we never went back eversince.

@Coastal Settlement. A dinner date near my office one fine night with my lil' sister. Can't believe she's growing up so quickly! And its nice to know that I can just be myself even after not meeting up for close to a year :) I guess friends like such are quite hard to find nowadays, so I'm really glad I have her :)

Food was gooooooood. I think many places now have reviews online and people often rave about how good the place is, but I get disappointed most of the time because they just don't taste as good as they sound. Coastal Settlement's one that tastes as good as it sounds. Breaded portobello mushrooms was good - the unexpected juiciness of mushroom and the sauce that comes along with it. But this side should definitely be shared because it gets quite sian if you eat too much or when it turns cold. The pizza was DA BOMBZ BOOMZ haha the entire thing is just so good you have to try it at least once in a lifetime :O Also, do not order both at the same visit (unless there's a few of you) because you'll get sick of mushrooms at the end of the visit, which both of us were. Would like to try their crayfish laksa pasta the next time round!

This was at Tonkatsu by Ma Maison@Mandarin Gallery if I didn't remember wrongly. Friday night out with Yan! In short, 1)they had a range of confusing sauces which the waiters did not bother explaining 2)the so-called special plum sauce tasted really quite normal, wouldn't opt for it if I go back 3)in fact, doubt I'm going back because the food did not justify the price. I'll be sticking to Tonkichi for now :D

18 Chefs for lunch - stick to their students deal! Caught Hunger Games again cos I enjoyed it the first time watching it in hall in a stuffy room with 5 of us squeezed on a bed staring at a 15" tv screen at 3am in the morning and I wanted a better experience at the cinema! Tix were going for $5 anyway (didn't know such deals exist!) and when I tag along with the older folks, everything's free hehehe what not to like. GH's getting a Japanese spitz! :DDDD Gonna visit the home breeder this weekend and choose 1 out of 3. Still thinking of a name for it. Can't wait for its arrival!!!! Hope I can play with it for at least a week before I fly.

Joo Seng and fake-Chomp Chomp with the C3 peeps one Sunday evening. Fake because the place was too crowded and waiting times were crazy so we popped over to the market opposite. Was nice to have some good old hawker fare and to catch up with the few of them who just returned from ocip in Cambodia. Celebrated Ah li's birthday as well!

Ordered Domino's for dinner one day cos the folks went out for dinner. First time ordering but nothing special EXCEPT FOR THE ONE ABOVE. Super nice please! I was expecting the molten cake to be kinda hardened up since they took 1.5hours to deliver but it was SOOO GOOOD. Good enough to satisfy any molten lava cake craving without spending a bomb at Gobi/Buttercake & Cream. (Btw, tried Chocolate Origin's and its not nice, please don't get it.) Mmmm can feel it in my mouth now man aha.

Dinner with my soccer buddies after work one evening since captain's back from NZ! :D Had the "real" chomp chomp this time as well as homemade cookies baked by some of them. The earl grey ones left a refreshing after taste and the choc chip oatmeal ones were crunchy and chocolatey too! Some homemade goodness :D Had desserts @Dessert Bowl. The durian cream looked damn gao and they kept exclaiming how rich and yummy it tasted but yikes I don't like durian so I stuck to mango pomelo which did not deserve the $4.50 price tag. Try the durian cream if you're there!

Aaron invited us to his place for a gathering one Sunday evening so we took the chance to visit his baby! That's the adult Yingen carrying baby Yingen :) Haven't seen them for so long that I mixed up 2 of my friends, damn paiseh. Realized that everyone's travelling to all parts of the world and we were saying we should have a huge skype chat which will be so fun!

Went to Weyyean's place twice recently for good food again haha eating is indeed Singaporeans' favourite past time. We had really really really good peranakan food for the first evening, ordered in from a 76 yo man who cooks really really really well. Gosh tasted so good even when we consumed the leftovers a week later. Second evening was some food from the swiss butchery which the youngsters tried cooking but most of them turned out uncooked and they had to be sent back to the kitchen for master chef Jo to salvage what's left. Poor Josh was down with a fever so no baby fun for the night :( The first night he touched my butt ROFL but he smiled at me so innocently that I had no choice but to forgive him immediately. Apparently he was trying to call out to me but his hand could only reach that height so yea haha SO CUTE :D

Had some 126 goodness last Sunday morning since Grass was back for summer. She only has 2.5 months of school every sem and her break's from July-October!! Like a shiok. Didn't know 126's packed in the mornings as well! Luckily we were there quite early. The fried carrot cake, chee cheong fun and scallop porridge were the best MUST TRY. The rest are just mediocre. Ate alot for only $31!

food, holidays
