The Friday Five
1.) What fandom do you center on most?
I've drifted in and out of the Harry Potter fandom for the past few years, but always as a watcher, never as an active participant
2.) Do you contribute to it much (write fanfiction, draw fanart, participate in online communities and discussions)?
I mostly read fanfiction (this is actually an interesting set of questions since I randomly decided to read some HP fanfiction last night and have been spending quite a bit of time browsing the
Fandom Wank Wiki) In terms of ships, my taste isn't really that out of the ordinary, I like to read about R/Hr H/G and sometimes a bit of Harry/Luna.
3.) Do you think that such things are good or harmful to the fandom and why?
Probably people taking things way too seriously (but it can also be funny to see people foaming at the mouth and swearing off the series because Harry and Hermione didn't get together in book 6)
4.) Do you think its good or harmful for the original creator?
I think it's definitely a good thing... at the very least it shows that the creator has an extremely strong fanbase that probably won't be deserting them any time soon
5.) Why do you like this fandom in particular?
It's an extension of my love for the Harry Potter series in general. Plus internet HP fans tend to be pretty crazy, which in itself is amusing to witness. There are a lot of completely insane people on the internet, as illustrated by people like this
woman or these
people
