Harry Potter 7

A bit slow, but I've finally finished reading it.

I can't even explain what exactly upsets me the most about this book.
The fact that it closed last exits to main plots?
The amount of poor jokes, cliches and half-hearted explanations?
Poor language?

Not sure.

But last two chapters weren't enough to balance out the whole book filled with water and establishing last canons.
Snape's visions weren't enough to support the impression of that love he supposed to have (and the eyes thing made me SO disgusted, as possible as it could be).
Putting death next to laugher didn't make any of deaths mentioned anymore visible.
The mushy parts were so... mushy (but I could live with that if not for...)
Love lives were so FORCED and out of place and actually broke out of the text as if they were written separately and then added to places where they seemingly fit - but they don't!
And Epilogue? Oooh, epilogue is Rowling's fanfic to her own book! It DEFINITELY was written before or at least separately. Everyone is SO OOC!

BUT.
If all the water was squeesed out of it, if all Rowlings' attempts to secure certain canons were removed, if characters' thoughts made less unfounded leaps, if poignant silences added to bring more attention to deaths and significat acts were filled with actual words and actions, it would've made a great, fabulous book.

To sum it up: I'm disappointed, it could've been better, and all the good parts make all the bad parts look even worse *nod*

P.S. I adore Maya's writing, and this is no exception.
