Research Project Help!!

Hi! It sure has been a while, hasn't it! Turns out the meet that was cancelled the weekend of the really bad snowstorm was rescheduled to last weekend! Since everyone else would be taking that extra time to practice, I decided to do the same. So I didn't write. I'm sorry! On the plus side, I placed! Only one more meet before we see if we're going to go to state or not. I'm nervous about it but I'll do my best!

It's terribly rude to, but here I am asking for a favor from all the people who read this. This term I'm taking Civics, so I have to do a paper on a part of one of the three branches of government! So I'm doing a paper on the Judiciary, because I know the best about that one. But I don't really understand very well how all those things that people like Mr. Chief Gumshoe and all the defense attorneys and prosecutors do get all the way up to the actual checks and balances part! How is it that the kind of things that people I know do can keep the Executive and Legislative branches from doing things they're not supposed to...?

So here is my question. If you work or did work in the judicial branch somehow, (like as a lawyer or a police officer) how is it that what you do affects the way the government works? If you have any real life stories, I'd like to hear them! Even if it's just of when you met a famous government person. You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but it would help me greatly with school if you could. Thank you very much in advance!
