The tea party room in the House of Arch has been re-arranged. The chests of dress-up clothes are still there, but the large table is gone. In its place are comfy, overstuffed chairs, a long sofa, and several cushions and bean bags scattered about. There is a small table loaded with snacks like crisps, dips, cupcakes, candy, and soda. Alanna arrives early, dressed comfortably in loose linen trousers and shirt, carrying a bag, a baby carrier and Grace in a sling. Slumber parties are a new experience, but she's willing to try anything for Ingress.

"This looks like the correct place," she says, grinning, from just behind the birthday girl.

"I wouldn't miss it," is her quick response. "This is Grace. Grace, this is Ingress. Our hostess."

Blinking, Grace seems to focus on the blue hair and waves a small fist.

There is a box of makeup and fingernail polish beside one of the trunks of dress-up clothes. The trunks themselves are overflowing with old silk and velvet gowns of many eras, as well as more modern accoutrements such as boas, shawls, and floppy hats.

"It's for dress up! And look-" She holds up tubes and bottles of glisteny pink. "We have makeup."

Or, at least, lip gloss and fingernail polish.

Mary frowns. She doesn't have anything against pink, but it might be nice to at least see some other colors represented.

It's gotten later, the lights are dimmed, and it's time for stories. There's a flashlight to shine in one's face, if one is telling a spoooooky story.

Ingress gasps, her eyes wide. "What happened next?"

She knows some witches. They are very nice people. This sounds like one from the stories who bears no resemblance to the real ones.

Marian repressed the urge to smile. She might not have known the story amazing well since it wasn't of her time, but it had held its own creepy notes for someone who's world did have tales of evil and crazy witches ( ... )

Eventually, Alanna takes Grace home and returns carrying much less than on her previous visit. She smiles fondly at Ingress and looks around, idly snacking on a cupcake. She likes the frosting; it disappears first.

Susan has drifted off on top of one of the bean bags, giving Amy a chance for some grown up conversation.

There's icing on her upper lip; Alanna feels it, but smiles at Amy before wiping it off.

"Hullo, Amy. How do you fare?"
