omg!!!!!! he's soooooooo cute! can i borrow him for snuggles? you should def let him stay in your bed! 8 miles is just insane! no hike will challenge you anymore! why was he drugged when you got him? what are you feeding him?

he might still be a little chompy for you, but he loves to be on top of people, so i think he has snuggling in his future, as soon as he can hold still for it.

i'm not sure why he was drugged, something about a vet visit, but maybe they just do that to keep them calm.

he was on rice and chicken (I KNOW, BUT THEY MADE ME) for a day or so, now he's on mixed dog food chicken and rice. that's what they said to do. he's still on some stomach meds. i guess he was having trouble from being shuffled around. his foster mom said he was a beggar, and he was kind of pushy for the first couple of days. i didn't break, and now he often SLEEPS while i eat! he's 80% cured. it's kind of a miracle.

i should send you my google maps account because i use that to map the miles we cover. draw about a 2-3mile circle around my house, and we cover most of that. we mostly walk either up in the claremont hills or we head over by the dog park, closer to your neighborhood. i would say we should come visit you, but he would eat your bunnies!

that's within a 2 mile radius, so we are game when you are. i think we're about to head over to the dog park and work on "come" for a little while. he also plays fetch, but in a much less goal oriented way than most dogs. he can run faster than any other dog in the park!

that park is nice, but it's not fenced. we need fenced because he's not ok off leash right now. hopefully someday? we have to go to the one under the freeway. it's depressing, all dirt and exhaust, but he loves to run, so i go. last night he played with this tough pit bull mix for SO LONG. he's a wimp, but he realized he can out run dogs, so he just raced around like mad. he seems to be getting more confident, but i think he'll always be submissive with other dogs.

i'm working on my stupid paper, so i can't take pictures. maybe tonight.

2 290s is too much!

now i finally understand why so many people take their dogs there! it's all about the fence! when are you presenting for your other 290?

a couple of weeks. i'm doing bivalent domains (chromatin), so i think it should be as easy as possible. still, i dread that kind of thing. luckily a lot of people have gone and the intellectual standards are lower than for mike's. i'll survive, and i've already read the 2 papers that seem most appropriate. right now i'm contemplating how to get the girl presenting with me to do the intro/background. we have 2 presenters on each topic, so going first means you have to do background. the only thing is that i kind of think i should present the first paper which is straight ahead mapping of modifications. i'm not sure who the other person is, rachel someone?

funny you should ask. i think she might have been giving me looks yesterday. i made some comment about the paper during break, and then she answered saying that they tried to address my question in the supplement, but we didn't finish talking about it. after class, i was one of the last people to clear out. she lingered, left, and then came back to show me the figure! i couldn't tell if it was just intellectual friendliness or something more. i hadn't picked up on anything the last couple of meetings, though i wasn't paying attention either.

she's cute. maybe that would be fun. is she german? what kind of german name is jane?!?!
