There are so many people in jail because of the addiction to gambling that something needs to be done to address the problem. I feel that pot could help in getting people off their addictions.
Now you might ask why would i say something like that. Well, look at what pot has to offer. It's physically a nonaddictive substance with the power to alter short-term memory! My own theory, totally untested but provocative, is that the reason activities like gambling and stealing are so addictive is a problem that lies within our bodies. When our body is threatened with harm or even death it floods our system with natural drugs that act as painkillers and give us incredible strength and clarity.
The natural substance called adrenaline is about the best high one can have without breaking the law. This is the drugh that John Travolta injected into Uma Thurman in the movie Pulp Fiction when she accidentally snorted his heroin. The adrenaline shot actually brought her back to life. This is the same feeling you get when you stand unprotected on the edge of a tall building or even on the balcony of a high rise. It's a form of speed hight the methfreaks and crackheads kill themselves trying to duplicate. And it is within us waiting for a life-threatening situation before it activates. This is the same drug that propels atheletes to great heights. Adrenaline, the natural drug of champions!
And it stands to reason, pot does negate that high. I've known pro athletes who smoke pot to come down from that adrenaline high they get after a game. I've heard of cops doing the same thing to come down from the highs and the stressed of the job. I once went on a police ride-along, where i rode with a cop for one night. It was the most exciting night of my life and the cop i rode with said it is like that and more every night. It took me a month before i started sleeoing normally again and that was only after one night.
All the addictive pastimes like gambling, stealing, armed robbery, rape, and home invasion are directly or indirectly caused by the search for that special thrill that only the adrenaline rush can provide. and the one natural substance that has proved it can control and negate that rush is presently illegal. Not only is it illegal, but apparently no one is even testing this herb to see what effects it does have on people.
One thing for sure is that unlike legal drugs such as alcohol and cigarettes, people don't die from the effects of pot. This fact alone seems to me to be a logical reason for the government to find out why no one has died from pot. I know its economics, but come on, folks, we all know that pot is America's number one cash crop. The only trouble it that jails in America come in a close second.
