I have a great amount of affection for everyone and everything today (with the exception of Franz, my bioMEMS prof, who gives impossibly long exams over impossibly short class periods, but that is beside the point). My day began with a cup of pumpkin spice coffee, so perhaps I can contribute most of my feelings to that, seeing as though I felt this same way last Thursday, when I had my first tastings of this delightful beverage. However, I really can’t contribute it all to the coffee. That’d be, quite frankly, ridiculous. God has definitely been working hard on me lately, which is relieving, as I’m recovering from a really long-term spiritual low.
As the leaves are beginning to change, it is reminding me more and more of our impending graduation. Not only that, the weather is bringing back the wonderful feelings of all of my previous autumns here at Vandy. Each one of them was so great. As much as I absolutely love the spring, the fall just might be my favorite season. I am excited to wear sweaters and pea-coats and fall colors. I am excited about pumpkins and gourds and pilgrims.
This past weekend was a complete blast and was worth the crazy amount of work that I had to complete on Monday and Tuesday. Charles and Melissa drove up Friday night in order to take me Athens, Georgia to surprise Daniel who was turning the big two-one; but not before some chicken dancing and sour krout was had at the Gerst Haus with some very fun friends. The drive south was quite enjoyable, as Charles and I were able to have lots of meaningful conversations about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We even talked about sandals.
Saturday morning, Daniel was surprised to see a Westbrook, a Kemper, and a Thomas sitting on his couch, as his mouth dropped open approximately 10.23 centimeters upon seeing the aforementioned three. Realizing that this story is probably getting boring for a lot of people to read, I am going to fast-forward to explaining the 3 Taco’s from 2 entries ago: we ate at Taco Mac for dinner Saturday night, Taco Stand for lunch after church the next day (church was at Athens Vineyard and was a really awesome first-time experience at a Vineyard church), and Taco Bell for dinner upon arrival in Nashville Sunday evening. I really love tacos.
Last night, I went to see the play version of 1984 at the Belcourt with Neal (who is now 22 years old) and Susanna (still only 21). It was fun.
