Yes, it has been almost 4 months since I've put up one of these. In case you missed it, the Koran whooped my happy, english speaking ass all over God's creation. But here I am, starting it back up, reading books not for educational purposes but for the sheer enjoyment of it.
Like in the beginning, I start with something that is relatively simple and straightforward. "Holes", in case you've been in one yourself for the past few years, is a children's book about this kid Stanley who is wrongly accused of stealing a pair of expensive shoes and is put into a labor camp for 18 months (instead of going to jail). It is probably one of the easiest books to read in the history of children's books, and its quite enjoyable. The other kids at the camp are interesting, and the plot thickens with another story told next to Stanley's, in which a chick kisses a black dude and starts shooting fuckers all over the place when they take her good thing away.
I suggest you read this on a rainy day when there's nothing to do. It's the perfect non-reader's book: short, simple, and interesting. *Note* More suitable books will be read in the future. Like I said, I wanted something easy so I could get back into the swing of things.
Killer Quote:
"I should warn you," Stanley said. "I'm not exactly the luckiest guy in the world."
Zero wasn't worried. "When you spend your whole life living in a hole," he said, "the only way you can go is up."
