And now, it’s whole (Lucius) Requiem

He entered his room, weary from the travel. Much had happened over the long weekend away. New friends/allies, stronger relationships with old ones. Aukete was sad, and there was little to nothing he could do about it, it nearly made him rage. Kincaid felt pain, and he couldn’t release that either. He had so much to do, but now he was too tired, he needed rest.

“Welcome home sir.” He turned to see his small companion Sirus sitting on a dresser across the room. “Hello Sirus, I trust every ting was good while I was gone.” His thick Cajun accent couldn’t help but fill his voice. “It was very good sir, everything stayed peaceful and quiet while you were away. “Good, didn’t want nuthin ta deal with right now.” He smiled as he sat, removing his boots, “Made some new friends on dis trip, tink we gunna get along real well. Saw Preston, you always liked him, he’s still crazy as a fruit loop, but he’s always good company.” Sirus frowned slightly, “I heard about your mother’s distress, as well as Julia, is there anything I can do?” Luke smiled at the thought, “No lil friend, I think you get involved dey more likely to get a little weirded out as opposed to pleased don you? Sirus nodded, he knew his master didn’t like the idea of him interacting with others.

After a rest, and a recalculation of thoughts and images given him during his travels, it was time to speak with Sebastian. He had to know if it worked, and without Preston around, and Aukete too upset to accurately gauge the stability of his new ability, Sebastian would have to be bothered with it. Besides, with everything and everyone else going on lately, it’d been quite sometime since they’d been able to just head out for a ride.

He called Sebastian and within an hour they were on the road. The nice thing about living in Sedona was that the town went to bed at eight every night of the week. Having said that, when the two of them got on the bikes, well after ten, and began their ride in the brisk night air, the roads were theirs and theirs alone.

While Sebastian knew that Lucius’ plan was to test something new, he hadn’t been made aware exactly what that was yet. Sebastian was good that way, overconfident at times, but secretly a good guy. The two had shared a bond for years, of teacher\student, of warriors on the same ground, of friends, or as close as they were allotted in the life that had been chosen for them.

As they road, Lucius began to reach out with his mind. Not exactly via telepathy this time, while the sight was a part of it, it wasn’t it’s totality, not anymore. He tapped into the dreaming, creating a Bluetooth Headset on Sebastian’s ear within the dream, and one on his own. As he did, he could feel a small change in the reality of it, and then thought aloud, “Sebastian, you hear me ok?” He watched Sebastian turn and look at him from the bike as they began another curve on the mountain trail. “I hear you, but how the hell…?” Lucius chuckled slightly, mostly in delight that he’d finally managed to create something of his own. “It’s not telepathy, that’s why it’s not workin like normal my friend, it’s something new. Now I need a favor, I need you gone. If I’m right, well, never mind that, but I need you ta disappear.” Sebastian nodded, obviously understanding this would be part of the test, but not sure to what degree. He road closely to the edge of the mountain curve and looked down the side. In an instant he was gone, two curves down the mountain, and riding the opposite direction he was a moment ago. Even with the sight there was no way Lucius could spot him at that distance. “Sebastian, can you still hear me?” The answer came slowly and unsure, “What the fuck…?” A rush filled Lucius, it was the first of his creations, and he was pleased. “Dis what it does Seb, it keep us in contact like a telephone till I turn it off!” With slightly increased excitement, thought you’d have to know him to know it was there, “How?” Lucius, obviously excited, “I been workin on it for the long time, it’s somethin new. It’ll give us the ability to have Kincaid, Aukete, you, me, and whoever we want on a web of sorts wit all our minds linked for when we need it.” Sebastian, the party pooper, “How much can you handle? Could we, for instance, put every Crone on it?” Lucius, “I’m honestly not sure, dis the first successful test I been able to do.” Sebastian replied, “Wow, well done! I think we should test it more, but this is working really well. I can hear you perfectly.” Lucius replied, “Tanks, been workin to perfect it. Not sure what da range is yet, or how much I can handle, but it should make for dey interestin tests comin up non?”

Sebastian, as if from nowhere appeared again next to Lucius. The continued their ride for a couple of hours, conversing via the dreamscape the entire way. Buy the end, the test had been successful, and Lucius was glad that it couldn’t see images. He worried frequently what would happen if the others knew what it was he constantly saw. If they questioned it’s reality. He wasn’t quite sure of the answers himself, and didn’t want to be put in a situation where they could see and then ask.

But the test had gone successfully. It was almost blissful, and was the one thing that had yet been missing. He’d been reunited with his sisters, while struggling, his family was complete again, and now he’d made himself as whole as he would ever become. It was well past time to finish the testing on this one, and move on to the next one.
