[i wanted freedom]
Okay, I was going to start writing, but I had to come make a music squee post first. (Because I know you guys love those. :D)
So, song that just finished - "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse. Um, yes, if all their songs sounded like that one, Muse would so be one of my favorite bands ever. That song is so fucking catchy. It always makes me want to get up & dance. And I was talking a/b it w/ someone on last.fm & he said it reminded him of Beck, & yeah, that makes a lot of sense. It's very Midnite Vultures-esque. Cool stuff.
And I keep rediscovering bands or artists that I'd listened to before but never really got into. Like right now? Totally into Tegan & Sara again. I love the song "Where Has The Good Gone." I mean, the lyrics: "Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive, look me in the heart and tell me you won't go." Ah, I love that.
Haha, "Long Shot" by Aimee Mann just came on, & I love the first words of the song: "You fucked it up." Hahaha, oh, Aimee Mann, I love you.
Um, what other bands/artists am I totally into right now? The Arcade Fire, they're pretty big on my list. I really love their song "Haiti." I don't know why exactly. I am loving The New Pornographers a lot, too, especially the song "Jackie, Dressed In Cobras." Good stuff. I mean, I'll admit I first got into them b/c of the name of the band (weird band names always attract me), but yes, I do like their music. Hmm, though. I guess I listen to a lot of random "indie" stuff, if you want to call it that. I don't even know how else to classify the stuff besides indie. I know that's not a genre, not really, but the stuff that's generally classified AS indie does have a pretty similar sound. I guess acoustic? Something like that. But yes, I listen to a lot of that stuff & I end up not knowing half of what I'm listening to, but it's all good. I heard this band last night called Small Sins & I liked the song I heard. It was cute. And that was the first time I had ever heard that band. I was like, hey, cool. last.fm rules my life. I'm so happy it exists. :)
But at the same time, w/ those indie bands, there are some that just bore me or that I can't get into, no matter how hard I try. Ones I can think of right off the top of my head: Interpol. Bright Eyes. The Shins. Sufjan Stevens. Wilco. (I realize those aren't all "indie," per se, but you get my drift.) I don't know, they just don't do it for me.
Opinions on any of this, anyone?
In the meantime, I am going to go attempt to write a poem or some porn or something. :p
