summary: having a fairy under your roof is tricky.. and often heartbreaking.

'Hey, dude? Do you believe in magic?'

Kai eyed his best mate who was chewing on a piece of double chocolate cake, the only thing he ever ordered in their favourite cafeteria.

Magic, he thought. Recently he was having this weird nightmares - no, not nightmares, more like dreams; dreams of a fairy who comes to him and disappeares just as quickly, leaving him empty and broken, no clue why. He wondered if these dreams counted.

'Like what, tooth fairy or Santa Claus?'
'Santa Claus does exithtth!', he muffled. Actually, he didn't speak so incomprehensible because his mouth was now full and stuffed with melted chocolate, he just had this lisp thing that apparently worked a little too well on girls. Kai thought it was rather silly and it made him sound like even a bigger idiot than he was, but everyone else found it cute and they'd 'aww' and 'ooh' at him like he was some kind of fluffy little pet.
'He sure does', a smile tucked at the edge of his full lips and he moved a little forward, making his voice sound mysterious and dark. Then his face cracked and he flipped back his dark-hazelnut hair, his eyes glimmering in the muted light. 'In your head, Sehun.'
Sehun only puckered his lips and added nothing, continuing with his piece of cake. Kai, on the other hand, had a lot of thinking to do - not only the dreams, but also real life issues were haunting him down like an irritated ghost. He had to cover up four choreos til the end of the week and he hadn't even started yet. Blame was on him though, for wasting his time on Sehun's ridiculous little talks and muffled words about magic. Magic, his ass.
Kai was mulling over his own problems when suddenly he heard a quiet, cracking noise and looked up. He hadn't even realised when he had gotten to his house. Anyway, the noise was getting louder, like someone was struggling with something and he hurried up, a little curious who would be so brave to intrude his backyard. No one dared messing with Kai, after all. Like ever.
'I don't care who you are, just get the fuck o-', he said but the whole sentence never got out. There she was, he tried to catch his breath which was kinda difficult since he could have sworn his heart was somewhere down his toes and goosebumps were running down his spine. Dripping wet. A drop of cold sweat dripped down his neck as he swallowed down hard. Fuck.

There she was. Pretty as a picture and realer than he had ever dreamed.

'The well you're doing here.' he blurted, putting the wrong mark at the end of the sentence.
She looked up and it was just then when he saw how bad she looked - her hazelnut hair was sticking up in different places, her almond-shaped big eyes were confused and lost and she had mud and dirt everywhere on her-fuck.

'Who-who did this to you? Hey? Do you hear me?', he waved his hand in front of her face, trying not to look at her barely-covered body. Cause a tiny bit of see-through robe did little to hide it. The girl - that same girl from his dreams - looked at him with her empty eyes and puzzled look, as if taking every detail about him; like she was observing him in her own way. Then came the words.
'Of course I can, you simpleton', she spitted in his face and crawled back on her hands furiously. 'What do you think I am, a retard?'
Kai jumped up, totally not expecting her to speak, let alone in such manner. It wasn't exactly what he had imagined.
'Um', he tried to sound cold-blooded and composed. 'Do you realise you're in my backyard? And I could sue you for invading private property?'
'I don't know', her face suddenly crumbled, like soft pastries. Her defensive mode changed to something more like her character. She did look like a fairy, no question. 'I don't know what happened. I'm.. I'm not from here.'
Kai eyed her light brown eyes with his own dark orbs. It was like staring into another world or into space - so shiny and surreal.
'Okay, get up', he sighed, already predicting how this would end up. Definitely bad, that was hella sure.
