Just got back from RYLA (rotary youth leadership awards) which was a week long camp with 60+ going-to-be-seniors-next-year kids from all over nor cal. It was basically awesome. At first I hecka didn't want to go because I didn't even know what it was and had no information about it (Thanks to Ronald Bruce Wheatley). Anyway, so after some drama on the first day with the bus not picking us [me and Carmen Calder, other WHS rep] up and then us not being on any of the rosters/cabin assignments (thanks again, to Wheatley). Once we got settled in, though, it turned really fun. There were guest speakers, career nights, and then "grab bag" which had video, photography, skits, newspaper, yearbook, public speaking etc. I chose to go to skits which was a lot of fun because there were some really talented people and we came up with some pretty funny stuff. My counselor is a student at Cal Poly and so we got to talk about it since that's where I'm thinking about going. The experience overall was really fun and it was pretty hard to say goodbye to everyone, even though we'll all keep in touch via facebook. OH! and there was this guy there who looked 99% like Zac Efron- soooo hot! And there was a dance on the last night which was really fun. It was like these two middle aged women as deejays, but they still played really good music.
VERMONT AND PERU PLANS WORKED OUT!!!!!!!!! Next Tuesday night we're [me, Keele and Jeanie] off to Vermont where we'll supposedly go to DC and see a show in New York and do some college touring and stuff. Then, instead of flying from New York to CA, we're going straight to Peru, where we'll be for like two or three weeks doing spanish lessons in the morning and volunteering at one of Mother Theresa's hospitals (senior project). It'll be really weird because I'll be away from home for 5 weeks, which is three weeks longer than I've ever been away for at a time before. My dad's already stressing out because he's having separation anxiety about me going to college. I'm extremely excited, though, because I was totally freaking out that neither of the trips would work out and I'd be at home all summer without a job or anything. YAYAYAY.
Probably will be no update until after my amazing trip. Pics on facebook to come.
