Ah, opinions...pontifexofpunkSeptember 3 2004, 05:28:24 UTC
I'm a firm believer that all politicians are full of shit. It just so happens I think George W Shrub is like 10 pounds of shit in a 9 pound bag.
The war in Iraq... do I believe in it? No. I do understand why we're there. We gave a shitload of weapons to Iraq, and well... if you have no idea where they're at, then there's a damn good chance they'll end up somewhere where we dont want them. It just so happens that Shrub has taken up daddy's flag and oused Saddam. Yes, Saddam was an ass. So are the rulers of Saudi Arabia from all accounts. Why do we protect that place so well? You should never have an oil tycoon pushing for war in an oil producing country. And what about Halley Burton getting the bid to 'rebuild' Iraq for an undisclosed ammount? Think Cheney had something to do with that?
I don't like the war at all, but I'll be damned if I'll ever turn my back on our troops. They dont have the choice to have a political opinion. As for the draft, I dont have to worry about it. Why? I'm almost over the draft age. Also, I have a heart condition that forbids me from activities involving prolonged accelerated heart rates. My heart skips or stops. It happens. If I got drafted and this wasn't the case, would I go? Yes. Just because I dont like what is going on, it's a price I would have to pay for living in this country. I'd much prefer it to be in the defence of my own country (if someone invaded, I doubt I'd be able to sit and watch), but wht have we taken it opon ourselves to police the world? Go ahead, slaughter thousands so that a few may live. I'm unconcerned.
I hope the support for Shrub is based on believing in the views and not on a religious basis. One of my friends and my aunt are like that. I dont care if it's republican courtesy to elect the incumbant republican. I vote for who I believe in. Touting religious beliefs is foolish in so many ways. You can't legislate morality. That's what the Taliban did. We want that here? Keep on preaching all of you Captain Zealots!
Why would you use a steak knife? Most of those are rounded at the end since stupid americans have the tendency to hurt themselves with such things. Not to mention, anyone brazen enough to take a knife to me is treading on unstable ground... Avoiding sensless violence is a good idea if possible. Not to mention, one should only brandish a weapon if they intend to use it to full effect. If they draw blood, they had better be prepaired to kill me, because at least one of us would die. That's depriving me of the right to peace, and well... I defend my life with my life. The build up of adrenalin can keep you alive for three minutes even if the heart ceases to function... I think that's enough time to take someone to hell with me.
