Cape Cod

Vacation’s been over for a week; I’ve been too lazy to write.

The quick update: we had great weather - went to the beach 7 of the 9 days we were there. The water was warm for Cape Cod, so I went in almost every day.

Hands down, the most memorable moment was was the drag kickball game Wednesday night. We got there late, so we only saw 30 minutes, but it was enough time to appreciate the scene. It was a fundraiser, drag queens (“The Angry Beavers”) versus a kickball team (Provincetown Kickers), to raise money for the Trevor project, a hotline for gay and lesbian teens. The outfits were hysterical. Unfortunately, the drag queens lost. Favorite line by the announcer: "The beavers, none of whom have beavers …"

One of the players on the drag queen team was the writer Michael Cunningham. Jane, our friend, delivers his mail and she pointed him out to us. The girls practically plotzed. When the game ended, she introduced them to him, and he posed for a picture. In his skirt. They were thrilled.

Another highlight would be seeing The Bourne Ultimatum at the drive in. No photos to share.

Then there was the excitement over the item the girls found at the local flea market. Since they have spent the entire last year watching every single XFiles episode, this seems just perfect for them. You know the book/movie, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? This will be the sisterhood of the traveling poster, as they share it throughout the year.
