So today was the first rehearsal for An Ideal Husband. I would like to say that I do love Wilde, I do, I do, I do and I adore my castmates' comedic chops, hopefully I will adore them as people as well. I'm the Duchess of Marybourough and I'll be wearing a corset, which will be much fun. Also I need a floor length rehearsal skirt and unfortunately my underskirt/slip from my graduation dress is at home. Darn. So I'll have to be running to the costume shop to borrow one. (Eeeck!) I really don't like borrowing clothes from the costume shop, I'm always scared I'll damage something.
I'm in African Dance this semester and I love it and it's not going to kill me. Well, hopefully it wont kill me. :) Just as much truth as joke, that though. First there's the asthma and second is the possibility of having a genetic condition that causes the walls of the heart to thicken. It's that thing that makes the basketball players like drop dead in the middle of game...yeah. My dad has it, and they think his mother had it (she died from heart stuff in her late forties). I need to see a doctor about that but till then I try not to think about it and pray that my mom's genes come out on top. At least as far as longevity and lack of most disease is concerned. My mother's father's mother is turning 100 this weekend. YAY!!! And we're all going to celebrate with her (all meaning, the remaining of her eight? kids all of their children and all of their children...so a lot). And my mother's mother's mother turned 98 (we think, share cropper mississipi no birth certificate she has alzheimers and has been lying about her age for decades anyway so we're going by census records) in December. But both my mother's mother and my mother's father have had strokes, of course neither one of them took care of themselves and led high stress lives and ate foods that are no good for your blood vessels and veins and arteries and heart and all of that.
Anyway, I'm in African Dance it is awesome. I sweat bunches, can't breathe, and was once so sore that I could barely move. I love it. Today I was used as an example for people to follow because I had the step down right. I'm sort of glowing inside because of that. It's not something that happens often.
