The sign they passed next directed them to take the next left turn and they did so, driving down a very gravelly dirt road with a number of pot holes they had to avoid. Veronica stopped trying to drink her coffee as any time she attempted to take a sip, they’d hit a bump. After the first time she burned her mouth, she just set it back in the cup holder and rode it out.

The dust cloud behind them made the road look slightly ominous, but the girls were excited to finally get to their destination. One might say that the dust cloud of ominousness behind them, the deserted dirt road ahead of them, and the overcast sky above them might have been signs that this trip was a bad idea, but none of them paid any mind and continued on their way. They finally approached a sign that labeled the parking area and they slowed down to talk to the man standing at the sign, his garb that of mismatched articles of clothing that held more purpose than design. His large hat hung over the top half of his face, blocking his eyes from view. When Margot rolled down the window, the man didn’t say a word to them, but handed them a paper that had a list of rules on it. She passed the paper over to Veronica who scanned the list as Margot pressed down on the accelerator and moved the car through the gate. There were a few cars in the field, but not nearly as many as they had been expecting.
