OMG, so many emotional reactions to this chapter. First, I love how excited they were over the game and how Ollie picked her up and spun her around and then them touching each other and I'm holding my breath waiting for the kiss and then...Connor. Grrr. I feel like a cartoon supervillian who got foiled again.
But then I absolutely love Connor having Ollie "scare" the other guy off. The whole scene is fantastic, but my favorite part is the imagery Chloe has when she sees them walking toward them with identical looks of determination on their faces. And of course I love Ollie when he gets all cocky and sarcastic. I can picture Justin all through that scene with that smirk on his face and that look he has where he's all "Yeah, I'm hot and you're not." And I love the way Connor talks up Ollie. It's so funny after he had just got done questioning the way he was looking at Chloe again.
Eeee! I'm so glad Connor is leaving for the evening. (That sounds mean, but you know what I'm saying. Chlollie need some alone time). Of course things get awkward for them the second they're in the car. Have I mentioned that I sort of want to knock their heads together? Just a little? But at the same time, you've done such a good job of showing where they're both coming from and I can see why they're afraid because they each think the other isn't in love anymore. (Now I sort of want to quote the GL movie and what fear does to a person...)
Speaking of GL, the Ollie/Hal conversation is perfect. This line? “She’s not with someone...” Oliver seemed to drag out a long pause before continuing, “But she left me, Hal. Even after finding out we made a child together...” <---breaks my heart for Ollie. I just want to cry. And him telling Hal that he wants more, the whole package, Chloe and Connor *melts*
And, bam, Chloe gets the wrong idea. Grrrrrrrrr. Now I'm mad at her. (See what I mean about lots of emotions?)
Amazing job...I have another comment, but I'll save it for IM. ♥
