I CAN HAS OSCAR?!?!?!?!

Feb 22, 2009 22:50

SPOILERS.

So. Just in case some people haven't seen it yet, I'm posting my Oscar Rant under a cut. That, and to be gentle because it *is* a little long.  Though I'm sure that you all have seen it by now and know who won what. CNN can hook you up, yo. Yay Kate! Only the Oscars can make me crawl out of my rock .... LoL

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to the nominees and winners. It really *is* an honor just to be  nominated and acknowledged that way.  Congratulations to the winners, especially Kate Winslet. She really deserved her award, and I thought it was cute how she and Angelina did a little clasp-hand thing. Meryl already won twice before and has been nominated 15 times (record-holder!) and it's a good bet that she will be nominated yet again in the coming years.

"This isn't a shampoo bottle anymore!" HAHAHA Oh, Kate I love you, you're awesome can I grow up to be just like you?

Angelina and Brad will now have "Academy Award Nominees" attached to their names and that's cool. Angelina always does good work and Brad Pitt has kind of become more than just a pretty face, huh? He's really showing some acting chops and the nomination proved that --- although it would've been fun to listen to Angelina's speech had she won.

AND HEATH. YES. His family gave a very dignified, composed acceptance speech and I'm sure Matilda will treasure the statuette in years to come, as an acknowledgement of her father's legacy. I heard that there were only a handful of post-humous Oscars given and I'm glad Heath was one of them.

I still stand by my opinion that Johnny Depp was SO ROBBED of the Oscar, the first time he was nominated. He was. I KNEW the award should've gone to Johnny instead of Sean Penn, because I KNEW Sean would win one again later. I was RIGHT. See? But I think that's okay, since maybe, JUST MAYBE Johnny might get nominated for his performance as John Dillinger when Public Enemies comes out and win an Oscar in 2010. Oh yeah.  I saw a brief preview of it as they were rolling the credits and ---- it. looks. good. And this time, the Academy better give it to him. Although if Leo DiCaprio was also up against Johnny in an Oscar race .... I'd say that'd be a tough call.  Those two don't necessarily need Oscars, though they do deserve "Academy Award Winner" before their names as they're always good, they're always consistent, and they choose demanding roles. And their performances are almost always flawless.

Sean, ONLY Sean, would give such an acceptance speech, but it's all good. Robert De Niro. *giggles*

I definitely definitely liked how they broke with the tradition of having last year's winner for the Big Acting awards be the sole presenter. I like how they brought in previous winners to introduce each nominee --- I wonder if those presenters wrote their own introduction. It was GREAT to see Joel Grey and Kevin Kline ... Adrien Brody needs a shave and a cut ... SO CUTE how Nicole Kidman introduced Angelina Jolie, and OOOOOO Sophia Loren.

Hugh Jackman is so charming. I like him as host. Bring him back next year?

Alrighty, that's me rant for tonight.

Enjoy the upcoming week and I hope you all have a pleasant start, a good Monday.

Arrivederci.
