This'll be short and very, very sweet, for I've got a feeling that pretty soon, a poopie diaper will be needing my attention.
Yep! She's here, and yes, it's a girl! (I admit only to being slightly paranoid based on the fact that Mike and Maggot were told several times that Jr. was a girl before he surprised them both at birth)...
Anyway - Heather Rose made her appearance on July 4th, 2006 at 7:44am. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measured up to 20 inches. Her big brother Ryan is extremely happy that he didn't have to share HIS birthday (July 5th) with her - he truly doesn't care that there's all sorts of crazy sales and fireworks and celebrations on HER birthday - just so long as she in no way interferes with HIS! He was pretty adamant about it, too - didn't even mind too much that I spent July 5th in the hospital this year. LOL.
The birth was a private matter - FAR different from when I had Ryan six years ago. Back then, there were about a dozen nurses in the room at once, it was quite uncomfortable at times...and Michael had been chased out of the room because he didn't have on hospital apparel...but this time around, it was much, MUCH more comfortable. Dr. P. was very good to us...it was only me, one nurse, the doctor and Mike in the room - door was closed. I was very relaxed. I truly felt better and was in a more positive state of mind having Heather than I was with Ryan. Daddy got to cut the cord as well! :)
Oh, and she's just beautiful. I may be biased, but... ;) I might add that she has just about all of the men in the house wrapped around her pinkie...itty bitty thing is only about an inch long and already her Daddy's late for work because he likes to spend a little time with her in the mornings...her two brothers are constantly stopping to bend down and kiss her as they walk by her glider. (She's going to have a heck of a good time getting those two to help her out once she's old enough to boss them around!) Melissa's ecstatic - can't wait to impart some of her sisterly wisdom on Heather - but that'll take some time, I imagine.
Anyway - just a small update...off to feed the wee one some pipples!
Til later,
S.
