Love could be a terrible thing. A heart-lifting, invigorating thing perhaps, but nevertheless, there was a terrible side to its powers. Especially when one was the heir to ancient pure-blood line and had the expectation of many generations burdened upon his shoulders.
Lucius preferred not to think about it at all, but he could never quite forget the precious few memories he had of a love that had never lasted. A love of youthful passion and disillusioned freedom. Yet, he had not been freed, but deserted by that love when it had walked away, leaving nothing but the dreadful cold.
