Summary: Draco falls in love at Borgin and Burkes.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Mr. Borgin approached the spoiled son of his most wealthy client, watching as he eyed the object behind the glass. The candlelight glinted off its polished surface, cleaving the case with a slash of angled light. He smelled a sale.
“Not particularly.” His gaze never left the display, and the shopkeep wasn’t fooled by the bored drawl.
“Perhaps young Master Malfoy would like a closer look?” Borgin unspelled the cabinet and offered the velvet-lined box before he could protest.
Malfoy’s fingers twitched, longing to hold it. He would charge double. “Is it cursed?”
“Only for those without wizard blood.”
Taking it eagerly, Malfoy turned the blade in his hands. He tested the edge against his thumb, and a drop of blood welled up, crimson and pure. “And for Muggles?”
“The desire to cut.” The boy’s expression was rapturous. “To bleed.”
“Its history?”
“Usually, they slit their throats. However…” He paused for effect, and the boy leaned forward expectantly. “In the nineteenth century, it fell into the hands of a London barber. He butchered more than a hundred Muggles before they stopped him.”
“I’ll take it.” Eyes on the razor, Malfoy scarcely noticed as Borgin charged him triple.
