He took his father’s hand, looking up expectantly.
“What happens now?”
“We touch the portkey and it transports us outside. One, two, three!”
He felt a strange tingling sensation followed by a quick jerk and suddenly the sun was in his eyes. He heard his father muttering about the calibration being off and saw that they were standing on his mother’s favorite flowers, but the remnants of powerful magic still ricocheting through his small body were all that mattered to him. He couldn’t wait to try it again.
Cedric knew he would love portkeys for the rest of his life.
