yay internets

I just joined paperbackswap.com . I thought about it a while ago, but never joined because I didn't have books to list- I actually like almost all the books I own. But I managed to inherit a box of books from a garage sale deal we did at church a while back and instead of donating them to a thrift store, I kept them back as list-material to get started on pbswap. They are all somewhat lame books to me- Dannielle Steel and the like- but someone else might enjoy them.. and hey it's enough to get started. Then I raided my own shelves for the slightly lame impulse book buys that I sometimes fall prey to and found a few more. So now I'm all set there.. only I haven't gotten my 2 free credits for joining yet. But someone put a request on one of my books already so woo!

In other book news, I just bought the first 4 George RR Martin Song of Ice and Fire books on ebay for $30. WOO! And I think I'm going to ask my mom for a Barnes & Noble gift card for my b-day so I can buy the new one. (I have to re-read the old ones first because I read them 5 years ago and don't remember any details.. but I couldn't find 'em in the library- everyone has been reading them because of the series) So yay for a sweet deal. And I don't really have any other ideas for a birthday present- there's not much that I really want right now (other than a hockey job but my parents can't give me that!) so it works. As I just said to mom, it's kind of boring, but I love books so a gift card is like gold. :) AND the new Janny Wurts Wars of Light and Shadow novel (that I've been waiting 3 years for!) comes out in October, as does the final novel in the Inheritance cycle (or whatever it's called, not a trilogy anymore with 4 books) by Christopher Paolini, so there are some good books on the horizon. :)
