it's like the calm before the storm

WOW- How amazing was OLP????? Can I even describe it? My friends, I have now seen them 12 times and I would gladly see them 12 more, or 12 times 12.. you get the point. That is how good they are. THAT is why they are my favorite band. I really enjoy their music to begin with, and when it's live.. it just.. WOW. There are no words. You have to experience it. I swear, it's like being high (and not from the random pot I was smelling LOL) but just high on good music. Their music makes me feel good. (as lame as that sounds, it's totally true.) I was just so.. happy. It's been almost 4 years since I last heard Raine Maida's voice live.. and man I missed them. It's like this- when you see a band 9 times over the course of about 2 years, then have a gap of 3 years and another gap of 4.. you tend to forget just how great they are. Then you see them again and all you want to do is drop everything in your life and follow them around on tour so you can get that feeling every night. I don't feel this way about every band I've seen live. (though I have enjoyed nearly every concert I've been to.) Just Our Lady Peace- and again, that is why they are my favorite favorite band.

It's cheezy, but Raine said tonight that we (the crowd, which was pretty bustin, I must say) made their summer. I have to say that this show made my summer. And I hope for more, when they tour for real after the album comes out on July 21.(WOOOOO Can't wait!) They played some new stuff, and it's good. They also played a lot of awesome old stuff. Here's the setlist (not quite in order but close):

Naveed (I almost died when they stared the show with my favorite song. they really do love me)
Superman's Dead
Monkey Brains (new song)
Clumsy
Not Enough
Paper Moon (new song)
4 AM (what the? it's been soooo long since I've heard this live, I almost cried)
Angels/Losing/Sleep
Somewhere Out There
The End is Where We Begin (I think- new song)
Denied (this song is from the "Naveed" album- I am pretty sure I've never heard it live but it was sweeeeet!)
All You Did Was Save My Life (new single- soooo good live!)

ENCORE:
One Man Army (!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!!)
In Repair (whoa, this one was a surprise)
Starseed (classic end song- and soo much fun!)

So yeah, great set- it was long and varied and just plain rockin and made me soo happy. The only way it could have been better was with 'Nee- she's my concert buddy in general and we've seen 9 of (my) 12 OLP shows together. Plus concerts are always better with a friend. BUt it was worth it to go alone.. And if they'd have played Right Behind You, I think I could not have asked for a better set. It was still sick though. I imagine they'll tour some more soon with the new album coming out and I plan to hit at least one (with 'Nee this time!) and if I'm lucky, I can do more than one show.. I LOVE THEM!!

I took some videos, don't know how they turned out, but it will be interesting to see..

Also, the opening band- The Incurables- was pretty good. They gave out sampler cds, so I will certainly be checkin that. They are from Buffalo, so I could probably see them again sometime. cool. this other band- Inner Eye, was okay but not as much to my taste. They had good energy though.

All in all, it was a great experience and I'm super happy I went. (even if it meant dissin my fam for the weekend. It was worth it!)

live music, yay, olp, concerts
