welcome to this world

First, the news! I bought a laptop. Whoa, I know you're saying- Sam, you are a self-professed non-laptop person. But I was tired of not being connected when I was at my parents' house, or when I am traveling. So I checked around the Circuit City had a great deal on an Acer Extensa 5420- a pretty decent machine for $400. Not a bad deal. It's got good memory, a decent processor and a 120GB hard drive. It also plays/burns cds/dvds and is a good size. SO yeah I just went for it. I'm pretty happy so far. :)

So the concert last night was AWESOME! The venue was a good one, it was outdoors and not too big- I think someone said it held ~4000? anyway it was great. the crowd was very chill (maybe a little too chill, there was some mad reefer going around!) but yeah. Brett and I were pretty close for Collective Soul and Live. We chilled on the lawn and sat down for Blues Traveler cuz we just weren't all that into them. They did a cool set though and my man John Popper can bust a move on a harmonica like you would not believe.

But yeah let's talk about Collective Soul- I have such a hard time deciding between Dean and Joel. They are both so hot! Joel is smooth and has gorgeous hair and he's short and wiry and looks like Arithon (yeah I know Arithon is a fictional character- doesn't matter, he's hot!)

Then there's Dean. He's tall and buff and rugged. His hair is scraggly but hot, he's got the permanant 5'o'clock shadow going on.

They both play guitar, so there is no edge there. Who knows? I enjoy them both. I enjoy all of Collective Soul. Ed is amusing, Will is smooth, Joel is beautiful, Dean is sexy and Ryan is pretty too. Oh and there's the music. LOL Their set was a good one. Let's see, it was:
Heavy
December
The World I Know
Listen
Gel
Better Now
Hollywood
Run

I think that was it. I wish they had played longer, but such is life when you have 3 big bands at one show. Oh and they had some random gal- Hana Pestles open for the show, she was really good. It was just her and a guitar, which she could play, and her bustin voice. Her voice was very rich. I have to check her stuff.

Blues traveler was sly. I don't know many of their songs so I couldn't tell you what they played but it was good times. Then came Live. They did a long set, let me see if I can remember all the songs: (not in order)

The Distance
Run to the Water
The Dolphin's Cry
They Stood Up for Love
Turn My Head
Lakini's Juice
Selling the Drama
I Alone
Shit Towne
Lightning Crashes
All Over You
Heaven
Wings
The River
Sophia

I was pretty happy about The River and Run to the Water because I'm pretty sure they didn't play Run to the Water either time we saw them last year (AND I LOVE IT!) and they maybe played The River. Anyway it was a gooooood show. Very fun.

I do love live music. :)
