YES, IT'S ANOTHER ONE!
Though I'm sorta tired, and want to sleep. But... umm... actually, i don't know why I'm doing this now. but i am anyways! How i loves my list!
This one actually gave me trouble, since there are lots of possible sub-catergories. OK, angry is a really general term. Under that you can have jerky, evil, taciturn, angsty, emotional, moody, aggressive, tragic-past carrying, and a whole bitchload of other ones. But I'll stick with 'angry', and see how it goes.
TOP FIVE ANGRY CARTOON PRETTY BOYS
1) Prince Zuko (Avatar: the last airbender)
he is the KING of anger. At first we think that it's just cuz he's a teenager, and it's your basic run-of-the-mill age-induced insanity, but then we learn that he is, in fact, fully justified in being as crazy as he is. His family is one-half firebending sociopath, and one-quarter vanished into the distance (mom, in case you didn't get that). They make Zuko look BALANCED!
His sidekick/mentor/father figure is Iroh, his uncle, who is the COOLEST uncle ever. He drinks tea, takes hot baths, plays board games and sets up a crew music night, and then he unleashes masses amounts of pain onto all and sundry who try and mess with him. Or with Zuko, who he regards as a son since his own died. It's really cute, actually.
He's extremely endearing as well. Is it the scar? Is it the dialogue? Or is it him stripping down to unleash firbedning whup-ass? I call this the "Aladdin dilema". see earlier list.
my favorite line, which I think captures the essence of zuko, is as follows:
Iroh: ...first, you must calm the turmoil within you.
zuko: WHAT TURMOIL?!?! *vein throb*
*sigh* how i loves him... ok. this thing is getting too long.
2) kanda (d. Gray-man)
he falls more under the 'asshole' catagory. Cuz he is. I've only read up to volume two in the series, but Kanda is already firmly fixed as my favorite pretty in the series (Allen doesn't count, since he's too cuddly to be pretty). We don't know much about him, except that he's a snob, has massive anger issues, refuses to touch "cursed" things, and has a major stick up his beee-yootiful ass. Possibly several sticks. Possibly the missing Brazilian rainforest. Maybe the amount of wood will be revealed in later issues.
I can see where the whole Allen/Kanda conflict comes from though. After all, Kanda is 18. Allen is 15. And yet, Allen is only about three centimeters shorter than Kanda. If you were a teenage, beautiful, male exorcist, wouldn't YOU feel threatened?
3) Fakir (Princess Tutu)
fakir i would classify as more 'prickly' than anything else. He's a true jerk in the first few episodes, though he softens up after a while. sort of a loooong while, but a while nonetheless(is that even one word? anyways). He's the reincarnated Knight, who once sacrificed his life to protect the Prince, who's also been reincarnated in the story (As the ever-passive Mytho, who i STILL despise, even when he gets to be sort of normal. What a loser he is). But as Fakir, he even fails at THAT, as many assorted villains remind him. Poor baby.
Fakir is actually the one character who made me really cry in the series finale. He says he'll stay with Ahiru even after she (..... insert massive spoiler here....) , and he'll never leave her. and he DOES! that just kinda broke me up.
4) Raito Yagami (Death Note)
Raito DEFINATELY falls under the sub-category of 'evil'. with just a touch of 'megalomaniacal'. He discovers the Death Note as a genius high school student, top of the nation, attractive and coooool, but bored out of his skull. Abra kadabra! Enter the Death Note, the book of a Death God that will cause the person whose name is written in it to die whenever the writer wants them to. If you think THAT was confusing, you should actually read the series.
raito's nemesis is L, the mysterious detective with a penchant for tea and a abhorrence of socks. And shoes, mostly. L is my real love in the series, but he's just a crazy genius, and not angry. As far as i know so far, anyway. I've only read up to chapter 26, after all.
There's actually a huge Raito/L slash fan following. Just check out deivantart. This both repulses and fascinates me. XD
5) ANYONE from naruto
don't get me wrong, i really like the naruto manga, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! *puffs up with fangirlish pride* but every single male character in there is just a big ball of angst. End of story.
