I Win At Life!!!
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse... for once they didn't! I have been searching for a second job for awhile now. It was hard going since just about no one is actually hiring, not to mention I don't have a car so getting from first job to possible second job and then home would have been tricky. I had finally broken down and applied at McDonalds. Not that food service is a bad job, but I have never wanted to go home smelling like food nor wanted to deal with the people who get extra crabby if you mess up their food. But I was willing to do it because I needed income. Apparently, the universe decided to reward my humbleness because the very next day I was approached by the head of the corporate accounting department as well as the head of the company and offered an accounting position. : ) Of course, I accepted.
Last week and this coming week I will continue my old job working in the office of the store in the mornings. Then when I return from lunch I go upstairs and learn my new position there. So far so good. I like the other women in the department and everyone in the corporate office seems friendly and happy for me. For the first time, I am actually making decent/good money, full time hours, and benefits (after 90 days, of course). The work is not too hard, so far, and I beleive the company has a tuition reimbursement program so that soon I may actually be able to take classes and get a degree of some sort. HOORAY!!!
In other news, D. and I are still doing well. New work hours means I won't be seeing him quite as much, but we'll make do, I'm sure. I have also been smoke-free for 6 weeks now, although last night I did dream about smoking a cig, so I'm not in the clear yet.
Soon to follow should be less debt and eventually a car. :D
