Rant against ABC Family Network's Holiday programming

Dec 11, 2009 12:50

We've tried to watch some of our favorite childhood classics during ABC Family's 25 days of Christmas shows -- but after suffering through their butchering of Santa Claus is Coming to Town and A Charlie Brown Christmas, we're giving up. They seem to have cut even more scenes and chopped up almost every song in order to squeeze in more commercials. And since they are no longer putting the commercials in the same locations, the stories start and stop in very awkward fashion.

Someone has already updated the Wikipedia entry for A Charlie Brown Christmas to add the extra cuts that were added this year along with the previously documented initial edits.

The Wikipedia entry for Santa Claus is Coming to Town mentions the initial edits, but I see no mention of this year's butchering -- which included deleting part of "One Foot in Front of the Other" and even sadder was the removal of the mention of Rudolph (thus rendering this trivia question entirely moot.)

*Sigh*

Leave my happy childhood memories alone, you corporate money grubbers.
