I normally have a cup of coffee within 5 minutes of crawling out of bed, but not this morning.
I had to get some blood drawn this morning for some routine tests, and the lab requires that you fast for 10 hours or so prior to them drawing blood. I got back home from the lab around 8:30 this morning and finally had a cup o' joe. (So I'm finally starting to feel betterhuman.)
Not sure I understand the entire "fast prior" requirement --- seems like if they really wanted a sample of the blood that was truly representative of what courses through my veins, they'd be far better off drawing blood after :
- a few cups of coffee, a bowl of cereal, and a banana
- a turkey and cheese sandwich, a handful of pretzels, a small salad, and several glasses of iced tea
- a plate of barbecue ribs, a sweet tater, coleslaw, and a few pints of lager
Because honestly, I never willingly go 10+ hours without food.
