This.is.just.... my second Weeds fic ever (the first was a drabble at the doomed shipathon).
I haven't seen Season 6 yet but I did get a little bit spoiled about the finale.... so yeah.
So far it's been a show that I frigging love but don't really do or read anything fandom-wise with... don't know why, seeing as it's got so much material.
ANYHOODLE... REVIEW?
On The Verge Of A Breakdown Nancy is an entirely different animal and he’s not too manly to admit that it’s also one that scares the hell out of him.

She laughs again, even less pleasant than back in Pittsburgh, the back of her hand muffling the sound, and she stops looking at him or even feigning the illusion of it, head turned towards the window
-- Way to capture her mannerisms, that make her such a fantastic character and the actress so frigging amazing.
He doesn’t mean for it to sound as pathetic as it comes out. He doesn’t mean to sound so unsure. There are large chunks of Andy’s life that can be summed up similarly; he doesn’t mean to but he does and then he pays for it, sometimes instantly and sometimes later, when he’s not looking for it.
Her phone comes to life on the table in front of her.
So. Later it is.
-- OH ANDY. You captured him perfectly.
and it’s not a quick misplaced peck, simultaneously keeping him close and holding him at bay. No, that line gets crossed when she licks into him,
-- OH Nancy. ANDY. Both of you...
He’s not the good guy, he’s just the better guy in a series of dangerous, murderous assholes, and he wants this - has wanted this for too long - so he’ll go with it.
--YOU ARE A GODDESS.

So. Weeds owns me. Full on. But there's like no fic in fandom and as soon as I realized how much I loved this show (and, honestly, this pairing) I knew I would have to rectify that. I can't watch something and not write for it apparently.
Everyone keeps saying I've got the mannerisms down. It's so funny to me -- it's not something I actively pay attention, I don't think, so much as I've seen the series full way through three times in an extremely short amount of time and so it's almost instinctual I guess, now. Which, don't get me wrong, is a really nice thing. I was just so surprised to have everyone comment on that and then go back through and realize that I wasn't as far off base as I felt like I was while writing.
That part you bolded? Welcome to Andy and Nancy's entire relationship. It's all about keeping him tethered to her but at the same time not going over the line because that's a risk. Nancy's all about taking risks and diving into the water headfirst, so what's always struck me is her refusal to really do so where he's concerned. I think she's scared of ruining what they have and so she does keep him at bay and I've always been particularly fascinated by that.
I think this is the first of many, hun, and I'm so glad to know you're on board with that. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
