I think my feelings post this ep are better than post last ep. Maybe. I'm not sure. Grey's is still very meh for me, overall.
I really never thought I'd side with Derek, ever. I pretty much hated him for a long time. I like him more now. And I really, really like their interaction. You're right, he has been there, and that's one of the many reason it works.
I knew the Alex/April thing was coming. I also knew that she didn't know what she was getting herself into because she thinks she can read people but doesn't actually have a clue when it comes to Alex. No one does, really. Izzie got it. Meredith gets it. Everyone else kind of...doesn't. I don't know what she thought was going to happen when she told him she didn't want him to stop, but she certainly got exactly none of my sympathy. Hopefully, this ends that slow descent into hell that would've been Alex/April.
Is it possible to have a ship in which 1/2 of it is a character you can't really stand?
Yes. So much yes. Also, I've written Jackson/April, so apparently it's also possible to write it, even with the dislike.

Alex breaks my heart. But that's not abnormal.
