Honestly, I'm glad too since it's fairly recent and I remember a lot of things about the process.
Sheldon and contact is...yeah, insanely freaking hot. Because it's him. Boy do I feel you on that.
You know, once upon a time (pre-S3) I loved Leonard. He was a great character. So I try to play things like it's still that Leonard, which means I am way more sympathetic to him. Hence the girlfriend. I generally have no ill will towards him and, though sometimes I have moments where I want to strangle him, I don't quite understand the hate, especially pre-S3.
I don't think Sheldon's a virgin. My brain canon just won't buy it but I do enjoy the way others have worked it so that he is. It depends on how it's done. I think he might have done it for either of the reasons you presented, though more the latter. Several people have gone the way of it happening while he was in Germany, and others have toyed with the idea that maybe he slept with Leslie Winkle pre-series and that's where some of the animosity comes from. I don't really have a concrete, concise answer, I just have speculation and a gut feeling you know? And fyi, it is always okay to ask these things.
Actually, hate me all you want, that just came to me in the moment. It works startingly well but I wrote that section at 2am if memory serves and NONE of that stuff is ever done very deliberately. You'd be surprised how much of this is just the way it comes out and me getting very, very lucky.
Hate is such a strong word and Leonard is just innocent enough that I find it difficult to register hating him. I'm just like even if he's not your favourite, can you hate him? What does he do to make him so hateable? haha, other than just... be a nerd. And you're obviously watching the wrong show if that stereotype bothers you, lol.
Yeah, tbh my own personal bias towards Jim Parsons comes through here because I would jump him. *sick pervy perverson not getting any less pervy* haha
Aw. I think you could plausibly have Sheldon have sex or not and it still be so not a big deal. So yeah, speculations and gut feelings are as good as anything on this matter. And I genuinely think the writers are clever enough that they've developed this character that probably defies expectations in a lot of ways and has a whole life and background that no one could guess. In the same way that him having a hot twin sister and a God-fearing mother and a memaw make him so well-rounded. I could totally see him like "hi, this is blah-blah, my first and only girlfriend" and everyone doing a 'duh-duh-duh' and him essentially explaining that "yeah, I tried it. And I never felt the urge to again." lmao. I don;t necessarily want this to happen, but I think it totally could and wouldn't be as shocking as some (not all) writers make it out to be. (In fact one of the things that I love about your writing is that it's always like "Sheldon's good at this. Huh." not like the most shocking thing ever, ZOMG. I think when it (sex, relationships) does matter to him, he won't be regular Sheldon anymore. He won't be the S1-3 Sheldon, as in this fic, he'll have years of much changing and time on his own and growing up and then it will hit him. And it will be hot. haha. And there will be physical contact. JIGGA WHAT. YES. =P
