you've been so wronged you barely know what right looks like anymore {meredith/derek} slybrunette October 31 2008, 21:41:41 UTC
If Derek thinks it’s a silly idea he certainly doesn’t say so. He just smiles when she says they should take Erin trick or treating, because there’s only so many years before she’ll start to want to go with her friends instead of them.

He does say, “she’s only three; that’s won’t be for awhile.”

Truth be told, her mother never took her once. She worked every Halloween consistently, because no one else really wanted that job. Just like she worked every Thanksgiving and almost every Christmas. She was always left to her own devices, after her dad left, and she’d taken herself or gone with friends every year from six to sixteen. Meredith had no intentions of parenting her own daughter in any way that resembled her mother. Derek seemed to get that, at least.

They both drew the line at dressing up though. Much to their three-year-old’s protests that that’s what everyone does (that’s what you think when your world is still so small and everything is so brand new, all you can less biting). What they did was take off work early, six in the evening, just as the sun was setting but before it was pitch black, and together they took her down streets to over-decorated houses with smiling adults and not so smiling teenagers who handed out candy, and laughed when she came running back to them with her plastic bucket of candy shaped like a jack o’lantern.

Because that’s what good parents, the kind of parent she had always both wanted and, later, wanted to be did.

Stephanie! Thank you so much I so love Halloween and this just seemed so what Meredith would do when/if they ever do have a little girl. I think Derek would get it too, how much it means to Meredith to be their for every Halloween for their kids. She would want to be the mother she never had around. Amazing!
Thank you so much! And........ HAPPY HALLOWEEN

I think if they finally get to the point where they're married, then he would have to get it. He'd have to get a lot of things. And Meredith would want to do better than her mother, if she decided to have kids. You always do.

I'm glad you liked this hun! Happy Halloween!

(I am doing your other prompts, btw, so wait for those ;))

I'll be patiently waiting! I really appreciate since we are getting so little MerDer. This will help me get through my withdrawal!

Again Happy Halloween!

Again thank you for writing this for me! It's helps me get through my MerDer withdrawal since we only get 30 seconds of MerDer per eppy. Hopefully they give Alex/Izzie at least a minute per eppy :)

Hee, my pleasure. I'm working on another for you atm ;) And I think everyone got shorted a bit last episode. There was a lot of case type stuff and not so much actual character/ship stuff.
