My eyelids raise,
And I see her face,
And I meet her gaze.
My sleep draws on apace.
I wrote this for my Psychology assignment. It's a short poem, which I think, effectively illustrates the brevity and wonder of life. One is born, one sets a goal, one meets the goal, one dies. The rhyming is representative of the beauty that can be found in life, though in the great course of things, it is not too incredible, but it is still something nice. If one's life were the length of this poem, such rhymes, small to us, could seem immense and moving to them, as could a friendship, a love, a family, a work of art. I am proud of this one, it finally got something across.
[Edit: No, we weren't supposed to write a poem. We were just to answer questions about a movie we watched in class. But hell, I felt like writing a poem. So it's in the middle of there.]
